As you may have noticed, it’s been a bit quiet around here for nearly a month and there’s a good reason for this, I’ve been waiting for the arrival of a Winradio G31DDC software defined receiver:
It arrived yesterday and I was wary that my laptop may not be powerful enough and that it’s connection via a powered USB hub would prove problematic. Well I was happy to find that no problems have so far materialised with the USB hub or with the laptop (Pentium 1.6GHz, 4Gb RAM)!
Following some links and guidance on the web, I’ve got the receiver running using the G33DDC software which allows for timestamping and scheduling of DDC recordings which the G31DDC software misses out on.
Anyway, a few more days to get used to this beauty and to use the 30MHz spectrum display to locate and orientate the Wellbrook loop for optimum performance.
