Wellbrook AL1530 Antenna
My Wellbrook loop has been in service for just a few months but I must say that I’m very pleased with it.
Prior to the loop I had a number of wires, longwires and dipoles in attempts to bring in signals from across the world but in reality all I received most of the time was S5 noise and that was with the use of a Magnetic Longwire Balun and/or antenna tuner. So my interest in HF monitoring waned considerably after moving to New Zealand from England.
I had read on various forums and from other sources that Wellbook loops were excellent for nulling out locally produced noise and interference and after hearing some differences between wire antennas and Wellbrook loops on YouTube I decided to risk having one sent out from England. After the antenna sat in my garage for a few weeks awaiting a decent receiver I placed it on a 7m mast outside, fired it all up and began to to ‘spin the dial’. After all these years, nearly 20 of them, I could finally hear signals pretty well!
Since moving house the antenna now sits at the bottom of the garden at ground level but still works great.
